My Story
In Memory of My Grandad
I'm Gary Kenealy and I miss my grandad.
I'll be honest, the loss of my grandad to cancer is still quite raw. Seeing the impact it is having each day on the people he loved is heartbreaking.
What helps, is knowing that he had the best care during his final days, thanks to Willowbrook Hospice.
As we all find new ways of dealing with the huge loss, the most productive way I could deal with it is to push myself to the limit in order to raise as much money as possible for the hospice.
The Challenge
We said goodbye to my grandad on 21st August 2018, so from 21st August this year, I am going to start my swim challenge.
I am going to swim 30 miles in 30 days in order to raise money, it doesn't matter if how little or how much i raise, I will try to raise as much as possible, and raise it in my grandad's name.
Why 30 miles? It is the approximate distance of the round trip my grandad made from where he was born and raised, to where he met the love of his life...my nan.
I will swim 1 mile (66 lengths of a 25m pool) each day for 30 days in a row. This will start 21st August, and finish 19th September.
Thank You
Thank you for even taking the time to read this page.
It would mean so much to me, and my family, if you could find it in your heart to sponsor me (no matter how little the donation is). You are all angels. See you in 30 miles!
